Writing Workshops on Paros, Greece
The Cycladic Island of Paros is a true paradise - from spring when wildflowers tango by the wayside to the end of summer when the translucent sea is warm, and Naxos is stained lavender at sunset. The tranquility and natural beauty of the island creates the perfect ambience for writer’s retreats.

Our retreats are led by international authors, writers and thinkers: each with their own individual approach, each with something unique to offer. That allows for writers to attend and experience a plethora of workshops and learn something new each time. Some workshops are hosted at the Tao's Meditation & Retreats Center with it's Asian restaurant, and others on the southern, more rural side of the island, with an authentic Greek cook.
Pricing varies according to venue, accommodation, season, and length of workshop, so you may see slight differences in price from retreat to retreat.

For anyone wanting to stay longer we are happy to accommodate you. We will share our Paros Guidebook with information on the best restaurants, beaches, yoga studios and shops with all our participants.
If you are a writer in need of a retreat, recharge, or want to embark on writing, come join us in Paros Island, and let your creativity flow. Watch this space for upcoming dates and events.
UPCOMING: OCTOBER 2025

Jon Papernick, author of three novels and three short story collections, including The Ascent of Eli Israel, The Book of Stone, and I Am My Beloveds, whose work has been translated into Spanish and Italian, and his short fiction widely anthologized, teaches in the Department of Writing, Literature and Publishing at Emerson College in Boston, where he currently serves as an Assistant Professor.

Each morning, we’ll gather for generative sessions focused on the foundations of powerful fiction: from writing great beginnings, to developing compelling characters, to crafting meaningful conflict that drives narrative. In the afternoons, participants will workshop each other’s writing in a thoughtful, supportive atmosphere.

Between sessions, you’ll have time to explore the island: wander through winding cobbled streets, write in sun-dappled cafes, or draw inspiration from the brilliant white architecture and deep blue sea. Paros’s tranquil beauty and rich history offer an unparalleled creative setting — a place where stories come to life.

We will gather in a beautiful ambience for our workshop sessions where we will also be served breakfast and lunch made from fresh farm produce. We will stay in very comfortable apartments (2 guests will be sharing an apt, each with their private bedroom and bathroom. Each apartment has a fully-equipped kitchen.)

PAST: APRIL 2025

Our previous retreat with author and writing teacher Judy Lev was a great success where ten of us read, wrote, analyzed and polished our sentences. In Judy’s words “Like diamonds, sentences must be polished in order to shine.

"Schlepping trolleys and suitcases and backpacks and paraphernalia from Tel Aviv, London, and the US to the paradise of Paros the twelve participants warmly welcomed at Margaritas and wowed at Taos for their Prose on Paros retreat pulled out notebooks, pens, iPads, laptops and entered the scary unknown world of sentences, but not ordinary sentences...no, sentences sizzling with sounds and syllables and cozy consonants and perfect paragraphs and writing, writing, writing about rooms and clothing and sharp memories...and so much more that enriched them spiritually as they simultaneously enriched themselves physically on the fresh vegetarian food...and spending hours writing, rewriting, revising, rejoicing, reorganizing, re-examining, reconstructing, reconsidering but leaving time to take in the rolling fields covered in ruby red poppies, delicate daisies, and lots of purple and yellow and green and dotted with white homes and blue arches and fences and Greek flags and sounds of peacocks and chickens and donkeys and exploring the shops and restaurants of Naousa, Lefkes, Parikea and dipping toes in the Aegean Sea with its rocky cliffs and smooth, white stones and drinking wine, ouzo, espresso and blessing Shabbat candles the dream made possible by the perfect planning skills of Reva and Tziki and the super-impressive super-teacher superwoman Judy Lev and finally running out of words as there's nothing more to say other than todah, gracias, efcharistó, thank you immensely for these days in Paros-dise as we begin to dream of the next time we are together."
